The Blanco Panthers continued their outstanding play for the third consecutive week picking up an easy 55 to 0 win over the visiting Florence Buffalos. As a team, the Panthers earned their second shut out of the season, while also topping the 500 yard mark in offense for the second time.

Blanco would use a quick start to put the game away in the first quarter. Senior Kevin Gray scored on runs of 52 and 2 yards, while Quarterback Derek Tesch scored on a six yard run, in addition to connecting with Austin Deshane for a 21 yard TD pass. Kicker Dal Dechert would be perfect on all four PAT’s to make the first quarter score 28 to 0.

The second quarter of play would see Gray pick up his third score of the night on a 75 yard sprint. Layton Dworaczyk would later add his first touchdown of the night on a ten yard run as the Panthers went into halftime leading 42 to 0.

The second half of play would see the first unit for just one series as Dworaczyk would close out the opening drive of the half with a one yard run. From this point on, Blanco would ground out the clock, finishing the game with one more score from Kyle Holmes on a five yard run. Although Blanco converted just one of two PAT’s in the second half, it proved to be more than enough as Blanco closed out another dominating performance at 55 to 0.

For the second time this season, the Panthers’ offense topped the 500 yard mark as they totaled 551 yards on the night. Leading the way was Kevin Gray with 196 yards on just six carries. Hunter Elrod kept his string of 100 yard rushing games intact as he would pick up 108. In all, Blanco saw eight different ball carriers contribute to over 450 yards on the ground. In addition to the Panthers’ ground control offense, Derek Tesch gained an additional 100 yards through the air, connecting on eight of twelve passes to six different receivers.

Defensively, in securing their second shut-out in three games, the Panthers held Florence to just nine first downs and 202 yards in offense. Blanco also forced two turnovers via a Chase Howells’ interception and a fumble recovery by Griffin Giorda.

Blanco will now turn their focus to Jarrell and their final non-district game this Friday. Kick-off at Jarrell is set for 7:30p.m.
