Young Hearts seeking help for booth

September 22, 1978

Blanco – The Young at Heart Club has begun plans for the Bake Sale to be held at the Creekwalk Art Show on October 8.

If you are a Senior Citizen and are interested in helping with the Bake Booth in any way by volunteer time or donating baked goods of just coming down to visit at the Creekwalk, you may contact Teresa Allen at 833-4713, or come by the Blanco Neighborhood Center – Highway 281 South, next to Blanco Drugs.

Engagement Told

September 20, 1968

Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Miller are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Ethel Lemae, to Forrest Sparks Higgs, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. Chattin Higgs of Corpus Christi.

Forrest is an architectural and aerospace engineering student a the University of Texas.

Lemae is a sophomore mathematics major in the pre-medical department at the University of Texas.

Forrest is presently employed by IBM in research development.

A December wedding is being planned.

Blanco JVs fall to Falls

September 22, 1978

After playing to a scoreless tie in the opening game against Marion, coach Larry Davis Blanco High School Junior Varsity football team dropped a 31-6 decision at Marble Falls last Thursday evening.

The lone Panther touchdown came after a fumble recovery by Danny Smith on the MF 18-yard line in the third quarter.

Freshman Danny Graves gained most of the remaining yardage, setting up a one-yard quarterback sneak by Andy Williams.

Davis cited the play of freshmen defensive ends John Behn and Roland Gamez and the pass reception of John Ellis on a 70- yard pass play.

Masonic Lodge Receives Awards

September 20 1968

Three Masonic Lodges in this area will receive awards during a Masonic Workshop meeting to be held Tuesday, September 24 at the Masonic Lodge Hall in Dripping Springs.

Blanco Lodge 216, Rambo Lodge 426 (Dripping Springs) and Johnson City Lodge 561 are being honored during the meeting for outstanding attendance during the Spring series of Masonic Lodge Workshops, a project of the Grand Lodge of Texas which is aimed at improving each lodge.

Blanco PTO sets meeting

September 22, 1978

Blanco – The Blanco Parent Teacher Organization will hold its initial meeting on Thursday, September 28 at the BHS cafeteria at 7:45 p.m.

Vicki Howes reported that the first meeting will be primarily to sign up members, at $1 a person.

An attendance award will also be given this year, she said.

HD Club Meetings

September 20, 1968

The Chimney Valley HD Club met at the home of Mrs. C.A. Benson September 10. Mrs. George Candlin presided, with six members and one new member, Mrs. Archie Depew, present.

Officers elected for the following year were: Mrs. John Dollahite, president; Mrs. Geo Candlin, vice president; Mrs. C.A. Benson, secretary/treasurer and reporter; Mrs. Archie Depew, council delegate.

A general discussion on citizenship was held.

Refreshments were served.

Mrs. George Candlin will be the hostess for the October meeting.
