Noel-

The Forbidden Kingdom, starring Jackie Chan and Jet Li, is yet another summertime flop. I don’t know what they are trying to do with this movie. Whether it’s suppose to be for kids or adults or whomever, but that’s just one of the things that doesn’t really fit with this movie. The Forbidden Kingdom starts out with a martial arts loving kid that can’t really defend himself against the local bullies and because of a magical staff, ends up in a mysterious land. In this mysterious land, he discovers that he is the one to bring peace to the land and life back to the Monkey King. Jackie Chan and Jet Li try to train him for battle, but one is a drunk and the other a…monk? (I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried!) Anyway, the funny moments in this aren’t really funny and the whole story is just a little too far fetched for me; sure there are some good fight scenes between Chan and Li and the movie does try to redeem itself toward the last 30 minutes, but it’s not good enough to make up for the entire movie. 1 paw

Keith-

OK, I’ll agree that it took awhile for me to get into this movie, but that’s all I can agree on with my hormone-filled pregnant wife when it comes to this movie. This movie brings Jackie Chan & Jet Li together for the first time and has some of their classic fight scenes that we have become accustomed to. This movie is like Karate Kid meets fairytale land of ninjas and pulls off a great story by the end, even though it was a little painstaking getting to the last 35 minutes. This movie is definitely geared towards younger audiences, but adults will enjoy it too. The CGI is decent and we get to see Jackie & Jet go at it along with a big fight at the end that was worth it, now lets hope that I fair better than the Jade Emperor did once Noel reads my hormonal comment regarding her review. 2 ½ paws
