BYFL Flag Plays Hard
Wednesday, September 24, 2008 • Posted September 23, 2008

Outnumbered almost two to one, the youngest Blanco Youth Football League team fought hard on Saturday against the Canyon Lake Cowboys. Having only eight boys on the team, they play the entire game, with no relief. They have come a long way since their first practice, and do well on both offense and defense.

The Cowboys were the first to score, but the Panthers quickly tied up the game when Jacob Boubel, Branden Gambert, and Gabriel Gonzales held the defense so that Brandt Wagner could break through and make the first touchdown.

Defensively, the team pulled together and didn’t allow the Cowboys much room to breathe. Mathew Bradford, Cutler Adamson, Jacob Boubel, Kaileb “Peanut” Webster, Branden Gombert and Gabriel Gonzales came in fast, not giving the other team the chance to get very far. The Cowboys successfully completed a pass, but Kaileb “Peanut” Webster was able to run down the man before he was able to score another touchdown.

Austin Van Pelt took a hand off and was able to run fifty yards before his flag was pulled, putting the ball just five yards from the line.

During another possesion of the ball, Brandt Wagner made a long run and was able to take the ball into the endzone for the second and final Panther touchdown, tying the game.

The Cowboys were able to break through the defense for their final touchdown, pulling ahead of the Panthers.
