Wednesday, October 1, 2008 • Posted September 30, 2008

Organizers of the Wild Game Dinner are looking forward to serving a delicious variety of game to a large crowd this Saturday, Oct. 4th, at the Blanco County Show Barn in Johnson City.

This year’s fare includes fried axis, red stag, black buck and other varieties of chili and tacos, gumbo, fried alligator, wild boar, fresh homemade sausage, bacon wrapped dove and quail, shrimp, possum balls, Melvin’s wild game stew, brisket, fried sweet potatoes and more.

Doors open at 5:00 pm with serving and raffle starting at 5:30. It’s the best deal in town - $15 for the meal, door prize chance, and dance until midnight with The Mike Clifford Band.

The 50 raffle items look like everything you’d need for the deer lease (and more). Included are sixteen Rifles and Shotguns, Kayak, Scopes, Game Camera, GPS, Rangefinder, Cookers, Binoculars, Knives and much more.

Only those attending the dinner will be able to participate in the four 100 Square Raffles featuring one of a kind airbrush and school logo design guns. Also, $20 “Pick of the Raffle” chances will be sold until 8:00 PM.

Six guns, rangefinder, bow package, an autographed University of Texas Football Helmet, floating on the Frio package, and four hunts, including an incredible 10-Day South African Hunting Safari for 2 Hunters, will be exciting live auction items during the evening’s schedule.

The whole family can get involved in the silent auction offering a wide variety of more than 130 items. Spurs vs. Miami ledge box seats, Guided Red Fishing Trip, a Texas Flag flown over the Capitol on the day of your choosing, Cedar Fireplace Mantel, Roasted Hog for 75 Guests, Chainsaw Wood Sculpture by Jerry Hendricks, Gift Baskets, Dining Certificates, are just a few of the fun things to bid on.

Salem’s Jewelry in Marble Falls has donated a Sterling Silver, 18K Gold and Green Amethyst Necklace and Earring set that some lucky winner will take home this Saturday. One hundred $20 “Bauble in a Bubble” chances will be sold at the Wild Game Dinner. Players have a chance to win 2 other fun items and everyone takes home a koozie donated by Suzy Q’s!

Proceeds benefit the Blanco County Youth Livestock Show Sale. For more information call 830-833-5335.
