A recently formed Acting Company is planning on establishing a regular presence in Blanco.

The Second Act Troupe, a division of the San Marcos Performing Arts Association, is a traveling company of mature and experienced actors well known in regional community theatres. They will be performing in the Learning Center theatre of the Blanco School District at 814 11th Street (opposite the elementary school).

The repertoire of the Second Act Troupe will consist mainly of short plays, one-act plays and monologs. A primary requirement is that all will be intelligent and entertaining plays that will appeal to discerning audiences of all ages. For more information on the Troupe’s activities please call (512) 847-5167.

The Troupe’s very first production is a pair of one-act plays, The Actor’s Nightmare by Christopher Durang and Impromptu by Tad Mosel. This production was presented in San Marcos in September to enthusiastic audiences. Both performances were completely sold out. This same program will be presented in Blanco with two performances on October 18 and 19.

Both performances of this Gala season opener will feature a complimentary snacks and desserts buffet at intermission and an opportunity to meet all of the actors. Reservations can be made anytime by calling (512) 618-3355. The $12 tickets will also be on sale at the Blanco Visitor’s Center on the square from 9 am to 1 pm October 13 to 17.
