Going to a highschool football game just wouldn’t be the same without the good ole’ marching band.

Cooler weather, bright lights and the sound of the cadence as the band marches onto to the field are mainstays of Friday night football.

The first marching band to perform at a half time show was the University of Illinois Marching Illinis in 1907.

Bands have since progressed and now include not only your basic trumpets, tubas and clarinets, but often have electric bass guitars and timpanis.

The Panther Band returned from their first marching contest of the season on Saturday, October 11 with a second place title under their belt.

On Monday, October 20, the Band will travel to East Central High School in San Antonio for the Regional UIL Marching Contest.

Check back next week to see how they did!
