The Gospel Sing “On-the-Road” in Fredericksburg
Wednesday, October 15, 2008 • Posted October 14, 2008

“The Grand Ole Gospel Sing” will be in Fredericksburg on Saturday night, October 18, at 6 pm at the First Baptist Church located at 1407 E. Main Street.

Dr. Don Higginbotham, pastor, and Gary Covin, Minister of Music, have welcomed the “Gospel Sing” with open arms and will be hosting the event.

The “Gospel Sing,” consisting of ten different performing groups, is on-the-road this season just having completed a full schedule of Spring and Summer programs in San Marcos, Austin, San Antonio, Marble Falls, Burnet and Kingsland, Texas.

“There’s so much good talent in this area that needs to be heard and this is a wonderful opportunity for folks to see and hear some of the finest Christian musicians this part of Texas has to offer,” says Debbie Daniel, Gospel Sing producer.

A favorite at the Gospel Sing has been a unique performance by Mark Collins from La Vernia, Texas who portrays our first president, George Washington. His attire is of that era and young people everywhere are mesmerized by his presence, not to speak of his message. Mark Collins, who himself is a giant of a man, calls us to remember our forefathers and the stand and sacrifice they made for our freedom.

The Steel Magnolias have wowed crowds with their fully choreographed segment of music. They just performed in September at Texas State University for a united we sing program.

Many folks from churches in Fredericksburg, Kerrville, Boerne, Johnson City and Blanco will be with us at the “Gospel Sing” and sharing their talent as well. What a great line-up! Come on out Saturday evening, October 18th – you’ll be glad you did. It’s gospel singing at its best.

We invite the public to attend this evening of good ole foot stomping, toe-tapping, hand-clapping and voice-raising gospel music. Admission is free.
