Second Act Troupe Opens Blanco Season
Wednesday, October 15, 2008 • Posted October 14, 2008

For its Gala season opener the Second Act Troupe will present two one act plays in the Learning Center theatre of the Blanco School District’s Administration Building at 814 11th Street (opposite the elementary school). Both plays were presented to sold out audiences in San Marcos in September.

Performances are at 8 pm on Saturday October 18 and 2.30 pm Sunday October 19. Both performances will feature a complimentary snacks and dessert buffet at intermission and an opportunity to meet all of the actors.

The two plays are both comedies. “Impromptu” by Tad Mosel features four itinerant actors played by Carl Galante, Diane Hruska, Dan LaFleur and Ellen Massey who are thrust onto a bare stage with instructions to improvise a play of some sort. Disagreements resulting in tension among the actors provide many laughs as they struggle to fulfill the direction of their stage manager.

Performed after intermission “The Actor’s Nightmare” is a hilarious comedy by Christopher Durang that presents more chaos on stage as an unrehearsed accountant wanders onto a stage and attempts to perform with Ellen Terry, Sarah Siddons and Henry Irving playing characters in “Private Lives”, “Hamlet” and “A Man for all Seasons”. The cast includes Charles Ellis, Allan Eastwood, Beverly Galante, Larry Landaker, Ellen Massey and Sandy Zellers.

Reservations can be made anytime by calling (512) 618-3355. The $12 tickets will also be on sale at the Blanco Visitor’s Center on the square from 9 am to 1 pm October 13 to 17.
