The Blanco Panthers continued their outstanding play this past week with an easy 62 to 0 victory over visiting Brooks Academy. The Panthers’ defense got their third shutout of the season while holding their opponent to a season low 48 yards in total offense and just three first downs.

Blanco started fast and never looked back as QB Derek Tesch connected on all six of his pass attempts to start the game for over 220 yards and four TD’s. Tesch hooked up with Austin Deshane on the game’s first play for a 57 yard score. Tesch followed with scoring passes to Anthony Vela from ten yards out, Layton Dworaczyk for 26 yards, and then Vela once more from 39 yards. Dal Dechert would convert all four PAT’s to give Blanco a 28 to 0 first quarter lead.

The second quarter continued at the same pace for the Panthers as Blanco saw their first two rushing attempts of the game go for touchdowns from Dworaczyk and Hunter Elrod. The runs covered 26 and 31 yards respectively. Stuck in the middle of the two rushing TD’s was a 61 yard punt return for a score from Dillon Luke. After converting on three of four PAT’s, Blanco went to the half with a 48 to 0 advantage.

Finally, with a running clock throughout the second half, the Panthers scored two more times on runs of 56 and 31 yards from Dworaczyk and Elrod again. With Dechert converting his final two conversion attempts, the Panthers wrapped up their third district win by a final score of 62 to 0.

Offensively, Tesch led the way on a night where he began the first quarter with six pass attempts, completing all for 221 yards and four scores. With the Panthers running just eight offensive plays in the first half, six went for touchdowns as Blanco rolled over the Bengals for over 400 yards in offense. On the ground, Dworaczyk gained over 100 yards on just three carries, while Elrod added 89 yards on his two scoring runs.

Defensively, Blanco forced two turnovers; a Weston Copenhaver interception and an Ecce Bradfute fumble recovery. In holding Brooks Academy to a season low 48 yards in offense, the Bengals never once ventured into Panther territory.

Blanco will now travel to Harper this week to take on the 6 and 1 Longhorns. Harper lost a hard fought game at Cole last week to fall to 1 and 1 in district play. Kick-off at Harper is set for 7:30pm.
