Wimberley, TX — Extraordinary gourmet Mexican cuisine, an exceptional band to kick up your heels and dance to, a beautiful hill country venue and more, all for just $25? You heard right! That’s all it takes to come join the fun at the upcoming Wimberley Players’ sponsored Hurricane Ike Victim Relief Benefit Concert/Dance. This fiesta style ‘fun’draising event will be held on Saturday, November 1st from 6-10pm at Old Glory Ranch.
Proceeds will benefit The Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund and Galveston’s The Grand Opera House built in 1894. Guests are asked to bring additional non-perishable food items with them that will be donated to the Houston Food Bank. There are also drop boxes at the Wimberley View, and Wimberley Community Center for those who are unable to attend.
“Doc and the Cruisers are a show in themselves besides being a great dance band,” said Players fundraising co-chair Suzanne McCord. “And our ‘Taste of the Town’ caterers and restaurants have donated their food and services to set up stations to showcase their wonderful gourmet Mexican cuisine with tastes of shrimp ceviche, crawfish nachos and cabrito, fish tacos, an avocado boat station, gourmet quesadillo and tamale station just to name a few. It’s going to be a spectacular party, all for a great cause.”
The fundraising committee suggests the fiesta style atmosphere is best suited for adults who may wish to dress in festive casual attire. A limited number of pre-sold tickets are going quickly.
Also included in the ticket price is an evening of musical entertainment provided by Doc and the Cruisers, are the musical talents of singer-songwriter Jill Jones and her new trio, Jones & Rogers, and Amanda Jones, who has just recently released her first CD.
Tickets will be on sale in front of Brookshire Brothers this coming Saturday from 10am-3pm and can also be purchased at the Wimberley Community Center, Wimberley Visitors Center, the Wimberley View and from any Wimberley Players Board member. You may call to purchase by phone at 512-847-1592 by Visa or Mastercard, however advance ticket purchase is recommended since admission will be on a “first come, first serve basis” until the house is packed. The evening will also include door prizes, and super raffle items.
