Texas Tech University Undergraduate Degree Tailors Education to Career Goals
Wednesday, October 22, 2008 • Posted October 21, 2008

A complete undergraduate college education is available for students living and working in the Hill Country region of Texas. Texas Tech University (TTU) offers the Bachelor of General Studies (BGS), an interdisciplinary degree program. The deadline to apply for spring semester is December 1.

Students first complete the core curriculum at a community college like Austin Community College, Central Texas College, Howard College or another university. The core curriculum consists of the basic college courses all Texas students need to graduate.

TTU at Fredericksburg, TTU at Highland Lakes and TTU Center at Junction offer the junior and senior level courses to complete the BGS, which includes three areas of concentration, rather than a major and a minor.

The multidisciplinary approach allows students to tailor their education to their career goals. Upper division courses are delivered using a variety of distance technologies and scheduled for working students.

Texas Tech also offers the upper-division courses to complete an elementary education degree. This program begins each fall.
