“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” - Jn 14:6. Last week pointed out that this statement by Jesus was emphatic and exclusive. We saw how Jesus is the only way to The Father: the highway, the road, the route, the means. We learned that Jesus is the right way; the way of truth, the way of life, the way of righteousness. He is also the way into The Most Holy Place, and our way of escape. Jesus is the way maker, the bondage breaker, and the guilt, sin, & shame taker!

Today we will look at the second fact revealed in this verse, which is that Jesus is The Truth. He is not a truth; He is not one of many truth’s; He is not a type of truth. He is the truth. There are many lies, yet one truth. We say someone has either told a lie, or told the truth. Notice it’s a lie, or it’s the truth. The Roman governor Pilate once asked a question of the utmost importance, which was “What is truth?” (Jn 8:38). Little did he know that he was looking right at it. Every human being should desire the answer to this question; and may I say, I have some excellent news for those who ask it. The answer is found in Jesus Christ of Nazareth, The son of The living God.

What a privilege it is to know the Truth! To know Jesus! To know The Word of God! We know The Bible, The Word of God, is truth (Jn 17:17). It is called the scripture of truth

(Dan 10:21), and the law of truth (Ps 119:42); and we know that Jesus is The Word, and the Word is God, and was made flesh (Jn 1:1, 14). If you know The Word, then you know Jesus; which means you know the truth! Let me point out, that when I say “know”, I mean to have an intimate knowledge of, have a relationship with. There are lot’s of people that “know” (have head knowledge) of the Word, but they don’t “know” (have relationship with) Jesus. All your head knowledge means little if you have no fruit-bearing relationship with The Savior (Lk 6:46) .

We worship God in truth, by worshiping God in Christ (Jn 4:23-24). It’s the sacrifice of Jesus that gives us the right to come into God’s presence to worship, just like it does to pray (Heb 10:19, Col 3:17). Obeying the truth (Jesus) purifies your soul (1Pt 1:22), and shows that you know Jesus (1Jn 2:4). The truth is what brought you forth (caused you to be born again) (Jam 1:18). The truth (Jesus) dwells in the believer, and will be with him forever (2Jn 1:2, Ps 100:5). You know the truth (Jesus), when you abide in the word (Jn 8:31-32). You will never know Jesus anymore than you know His word. You must: 1. Continue in God’s Word 2. Then you become His disciple 3. Then you will know the truth 4. Then the truth will make you free.

You must love the truth (Jesus) to be saved (2Thess 2:10-12). If you don’t love the truth, then you have pleasure in unrighteousness. Jesus said you are either for Him, or against Him (Mt 12:30). Since Jesus and His Word are one, if you are against His Word (The Bible), then you are against Him. Don’t say you love Jesus, but hate The Bible: that is not possible for a sane person to do. The truth is also your protection from the lies of satan (Ps 91:4, Eph 6:16). In these last days, we must know the truth, and stand firmly on it.

I can’t stand it when these so called Christian leaders fumble with their words when asked point blank if they believe Jesus is the only way to The Father. “Well, it’s not my place to say…”. Stop!…Wrong!… It is your place to say! That is your job! You should answer that question the same way Jesus would, with a resounding Yes! Get some intestinal fortitude, and speak forth plainly and clearly the oracles of God like your supposed to! (Pro 8:7, 12:19, 2Cor 2:17, 1Pt 4:11). Hallelujah to the Lamb of God that we know the truth! What peace! What comfort! What hope! What joy! Let us truly show Christian love, by speaking The Word of Truth! Until next time, rejoice in The Lord! Next week: part 3
