Blanco FFA Competes at Area VII Leadership Contests

After winning the Hill District FFA Leadership Sweepstakes award for the seventh consecutive year, the Blanco FFA Chapter sent 7 teams to the Area VII FFA Leadership Development Events held on November 14th in Seguin.

Blanco’s Radio Team consisting of Victoria Jones, Samantha Ruiz, Daniel Romero, and Brooks Wyatt will serve as alternates to the state contest after placing third overall. The Ag Issues Team would also do well finishing fourth. Team members included Corey Dowlearn, Carrie Lockwood, Claire Klepac, Tucker Edmondson, Keaton Dodd, Kaleigh Anderson, and Katie Baker. The Senior Quiz team of Austin Smith, Aaron Thomson, Lisa Dechert, and Grady Childress would finish seventh, as would Alisa Guler in the Job Interview event. Placing eighth would be the Junior Skills team of Lauren Winn, Lindsey Winn, Kevin Vizcaino, and Derek Flores. Finally, the Junior Chapter Conducting team would place ninth overall with team members Sarah Isenberg, Kylie Leachman, Taylor Hartman, Ryan Feagans, Ethan Evans, Mindy Dechert, and Payton Duvall. Payton would also place in Junior Creed Speaking finishing tenth.

The Area VII FFA Association is comprised of over 120 schools from across Central Texas ranging in size from 1A to 5A. Advisors for the Blanco FFA are Felice and Jason Marek.
