FFA Members Do Well at Hays County Bobcat Classic
Wednesday, October 29, 2008 • Posted October 28, 2008

Five Blanco FFA and Blanco Junior FFA members spent this past weekend exhibiting livestock at the Third Annual Hays County Bobcat Classic Prospect Show in San Marcos. Over 500 entries competed in this year’s lamb, goat, steer, and hog shows. In the hog show, freshman Cody Perez took home a third place ribbon with his Hampshire barrow and a fourth place ribbon with his Duroc gilt. The steer show would also see the Blanco FFA doing well as both Dustin Green and Quaid Haack finished at the top or their respective classes. Dustin place second and third with his American Breed Cross steers, while Quaid exhibited the Champion British, in addition to placing second and third with his American and European steers respectively. Finally, brothers Trevor and Tyler Hardin had a strong day in the lamb show with Tyler exhibiting a fourth place Medium Wool and a fifth place Southdown. However, Trevor claimed the highest honors of the day as his Champion Crossbred Lamb was named the Reserve Grand Champion Lamb of the show while also showing the Reserve Champion Crossbred Lamb.

These FFA members, along with many others, will now prepare for the upcoming Dripping Springs Fall Classic which will be held in Johnson City at the Blanco County Show Barn on November 15th.

Advisors for the Blanco FFA and Blanco Junior FFA are Jason and Felice Marek.
