Band competes in Boerne

December 9, 1977

On Thursday, December 1st, nineteen members of the Panther Band went to Boerne to compete in District Band Tryouts. These nineteen people represent the largest group of Blanco band members to compete at District Band.

At the District level, there are approximately 10 schools participating from this area. Of nineteen who tried out, ten placed high enough to earn a position in he All-District Band. They are eligible to tryout for the All-Region Band.

Christmas Dinner Set

December 9, 1987

The American Legion Post #352 of Blanco is having their Annual Covered Dish Christmas Dinner on Saturday, December 12, 1987 at 6:30 p.m. in the Eagles Hall. The Legion will furnish the turkey, tea and coffee. Each family brings a covered dish.

All Veterans are invited – This includes Veterans of all Foreign Wars and Conflicts and also all related service personnel from all Branches of service.

Concert December 17

December 9, 1987

On December 17, the Blanco Band will present a Christmas concert at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium. Grades four through twelve will participate in this annual holiday event.

This musical presentation is open to the public.

Ross guest artist

December 9, 1987

Canyon Lake artist Sandy Ross will demonstrate how to paint a seascape at the Hill Country Artists meeting on Monday, December 14, at the Lutheran Church in Blanco.

She will use a canvas horizontally, with the length twice as long as the width, such as 8 x 16 or 12 x 24.

Demonstration will run from 10 a.m. until 2, with a short break for a sack lunch. Anyone interested in painting is welcome.

HD Club Meetings

December 8, 1967

The Live Oak HD Club met November 30 in the home of Mrs. E.B. Thower for the annual Christmas Party. Guest was a new neighbor, Mrs. Herbert Cowsert.

Gifts and money were donated to the Austin State Hospital instead of gifts for each other. Cookies were also sent.

The Council Party will be on December 8 at 2:00 p.m. in the PEC building in Johnson City.

Games were played and enjoyed by everyone. Sunshine Sisters were revealed with gifts.

Attends seminar

December 9, 1987

Diana Blackburn from Blanco was in Austin recently to attend a two-day seminar held for all H&R Block managers in the southern half of Texas.

Discussions included the 1987 tax laws, ways of maintaining and improving client relations, as well as personnel and management matters.

Mrs. Blackburn has been the Blanco manager in Blanco for the past ten years. Please stop by at 307 Main, have a cup of coffee and pick up some free tax aids, such as record books, travel tips, ect. All are provided at no charge. Or just stop in and say “Hi.”

Young Homemakers To Meet Thursday

December 8, 1967

The Blanco Chapter of Young Homemakers will hold their December meeting on Thursday, December 14, at 7:30 .m. at the Homemaking Cottage.

The program for the evening is entitled, “The Traditions of Christmas.” Guest speaker for the program will be the Rev. Desmond Murphy, St. St. Ferdinand’s Catholic Church in Blanco.

Quarterback Club To Hold Old-timers Football Game Saturday

December 8, 1967

The Blanco Quarterback Club is sponsoring an Old Timers Football Games on Saturday, December 9, at 7:45 p.m.

Admission will be Adults $1.00 and Students $0.50. Proceeds from the game will be used to benefit the Blanco Panther Football Team.
