Wednesday, November 12, 2008 • Posted November 11, 2008

Tanner Rogers, freshman at Blanco High School, competed at the 2008 Houston Texans Punt, Pass and Kick Team Championship this past Sunday prior to the start of the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens game. Tanner was competing against 4 other state finalists in the areas of punting, passing and kicking. The participants received scores based on distance and accuracy.

Tanner won first place in the competition for his age group, and is now eligible for advancement to the National Finals. After a pregame exhibition of passing, Tanner was presented his award on the field by a Houston Texans NFL representative.

The first place Team Champions from each of the boys’ and girls’ divisions of all NFL Team Champions are eligible for advancement to the National Finals. Their scores must be in the top four nationally in their respective age groups to qualify. Those who place in the final top four will advance to the PP&K National Final which is held in January at an NFC playoff game.
