American Legion to Host Pastor’s Dinner
Wednesday, November 19, 2008 • Posted November 18, 2008

On Thursday, November 20, the American Legion will host a Thanksgiving dinner and program.

The American Legion Post 352 Pastor’s Dinner is a chance to thank area clergy for their service to the community during the Thanksgiving season and for everyone present to become better acquainted.

It is also an opportunity to inform the religious community of the service programs conducted by the American Legion (and other organizations ) for veterans and their families so that clergy might advise their flock of an appropriate program should the need arise.

The meeting presentation will be given by Army Major Art Anthony (Ret.), Senior Military Outreach Coordinator for the San Antonio – Bexar County United Way. Major Anthony will speak on the “Call 2-1-1” the Texas Military Family Project that connects military service members who have deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq, and their families, to vital local community resources and services 24/7.

Legion assistance programs include Heroes to Hometowns, Temporary Financial Assistance, National Emergency Fund, Family Support Network, American Legacy Scholarship and Service Officers who can assist with VA claims and problems. Links to other organizations and to information about the above programs that provide assistance or comfort to veterans can be found on the Post 352 website: http://www2.moment.net/~legion/

All Legionnaires, area clergy and spouses are invited to share this Thanksgiving dinner and program on Thursday, November 20 at 6:30 pm at the Legion Home at 803 13th Street. Please RSVP (833-5211) so that an adequate amount of food may be prepared.
