“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God’” -Matthew 4:4
There is a true hunger that can’t be satisfied with the things of this world. One may possess the finest house, clothes, automobiles and dine on the finest foods, and yet have an emptiness that nothing in this world can fill. Man is made in the image of God, and has spiritual needs that must be met. The natural mirror reflects the physical image, and unfortunately gains most of the attention. The mirror of God’s word reflects the spiritual man, and the valuable time we spend before it tells us of our true needs and satisfies that true hunger.
Christ brings true satisfaction. In Him we find the way of truth for living.
Most people make decisions in life based on a set of principles, core beliefs, or values that have been instilled in them from early in life, or values that they have picked up from the world. Some seem to be guided by their own lust, desires of the moment, and basically use themselves as a standard for right and wrong. Following such a course leaves people spiritually bankrupt, and ultimately leads to moral decay.
The spiritual man within each of us must be nurtured, fed, and strengthened in order for us to enjoy all the spiritual blessings that our Father in heaven desires to bestow upon us. Christ shows the way!
