Amanda Griffith arrived from Fort Collins, CO, on Wednesday, October 3, for a five-day visit with Charles Willgren and a chance to see Blanco and some of the Hill Country. Amanda and Charles enjoyed a dinner Wednesday night with Natalie and Doug Hain, and their two sons Simon and Sol. After a visit to Fredericksburg and Enchanted Rock on Thursday, the two returned to Blanco for a catered dinner party hosted by Rebecca Howerton. Charles's mom, Cordelia Willgren, and grandmother Jewell Scott hosted a lunch on Friday, after which Amanda and Charles visited many of the shops on the square. A group of Charles' friends, including Nell Krueger and Carolyn and Bob Boydston, hosted a party on the Old Blanco County Courthouse lawn on Friday night. Both the dinner party and courthouse party gave Amanda an opportunity to meet some of the great people who call Blanco their home. After attending the Trinity Lutheran Fun-Raiser on Saturday morning, the two made a trip into Austin to visit the state capitol and BookPeople, and see local band Zydeco Blanco play at Central Market Westgate. The two attended only half an hour of the Blanco United Methodist Church service before Amanda had to leave to catch her flight back to Colorado, where she arrived safely and on time. A good time was had by all, especially Amanda and Charles. Charles wishes to thank everyone who warmly welcomed Amanda to Blanco.
