Comedy and Drama in Deckchairs

Regional Acting Company, the Second Act Troupe, returns to Blanco for two performances of its’ hit show Deckchairs by Jean McConnell. Featuring comedy and drama in five short plays, the production wowed audiences in San Marcos and Wimberley in November with the quality of both the material and the acting.

With Blanco actress Maggie Goodman featured in strong roles, the production will be performed Friday, December 5 at 7:30pm and Sunday, December 7 at 2:30pm in the Learning Center theatre of the Blanco School District’s Administration Building at 814 11th Street (opposite the elementary school).

The five plays at both performances each present a different slice of life.

In Early Blight June (Carla Daws) discovers that her mother, Helen (Maggie Goodman) has destroyed her life by intercepting and hiding letters written to her 40 years ago.

In Shoppers bored middle class housewives Rosemary (Ellen Massey) and Angela (Sandy Zellers) have unusual yet very profitable trips to the shops every Friday.

In Grannies Jenny (Amanda Troxell) and Barbara (Maggie Goodman) are both grandmothers minding their daughter’s babies for the day but which of them is not a real grandmother?

In Late Frost a shocking truth emerges as Kate (Sandy Zellers) is trying to help her best friend Pamela (Carla Daws) overcome the grief caused by the death of her husband.

In Doggies it’s class warfare with thoroughbred owner Thelma (Ellen Massey) and mongrel owner Eleanor (Amanda Troxell) using their dogs as their weapons.
