Blanco Volunteer Fire Department Purchases a T.I.C.
Wednesday, December 10, 2008 • Posted December 9, 2008

The Blanco Volunteer Fire Department has purchased a Thermal Imaging Camera (T.I.C.) with the proceeds from the April 2008 Fish Fry Fundraiser. A T.I.C. operates much like a video camera, except it shows differences in temperature. For example, if something is extremely hot, it will show up on the screen as a bright white. If something is cold, it shows up dark. The T.I.C. is a very beneficial tool to the Fire Department. It allows for more thorough searches of buildings to try and locate hidden fires in walls or other hot spots that cannot be seen. When used in a smoke filled environment the T.I.C. see’s through the smoke and can locate victims that need to be rescued. In addition to those uses, the T.I.C. can be used to detect such things as a Freon leak on an A/C system.

The Blanco Volunteer Fire Department would like to once again thank everyone who came out to show their support. Please come join us for the next Fish Fry in April of 2009.
