Annual Blanco Christmas Parade
Wednesday, December 17, 2008 • Posted December 16, 2008

On Saturday morning, December 13, folks lined the downtown streets and courthouse lawn, to cheer on another spirited Blanco Christmas Parade, escorted along the traditional parade route by the Blanco Police department. The lead “float” was one of Blanco Volunteer Fire Departments trucks decorated in its Christmas finery and carrying a group of Blanco youngsters. The fire truck was followed by a display of flags carried by members of Blanco’s American Legion Post.

There were 12 entries in this year’s parade, and participants and spectators alike enjoyed the festivities. First, second, and third place ribbons along with five Honorable Mention ribbon awards were presented to Blanco Volunteer Fire Department, 1st Place; Harvey’s Lil Horses (of Kingsville, TX) and Alamo Miniatures Horses (Blanco and Spring Branch) combined efforts and won 2nd Place; Miss Comfort (Comfort, TX) and Her Court were awarded the 3rd Place ribbon; Honorable Mention Ribbons were awarded to Brownies and Girl Scouts of Daisy Troup #1440, Wheat Electric Co, Uptown Blanco Ltd & the Arts Center, Keep Blanco Beautiful, Inc., and Dirt Works. Other participants in the parade were: Don Hewitt (Bracken Collision), Central Texas Llama Association, and Relay for Life.

OBCCPS, sponsors of the parade, sincerely thanks all of this year’s participants and spectators for making the parade so successful, and especially thanks to the Blanco Police Department, Fire Department and Emergency Services personnel for keeping us safe while enjoying the parade.
