Loving God
Wednesday, December 17, 2008 • Posted December 16, 2008

Matthew 12: 29 Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. 30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ 31 The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”

1 Corinthians 8:3 “But the person who loves God is the one whom God recognizes.”

Do you love God?

Isaiah 30:18 “So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.”

Psalm 136:2 “Give thanks to the God of gods. His faithful love endures forever.”

I believe thanking God builds up our love for Him. Once I got a grip on this, I began to do it. I wake up and thank Him for creating me, my husband and our kids. I thank Him for my job, and my car to get to it. I thank Him for my boss who hired me, and I praise Him and ask Him to help me keep it!

Jesus said in John 5: 24 “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life.”

“5 For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. 6 He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone.” 2 Timothy 2:5-6

I thank God that I know Him and that His Word has been preserved throughout all these years, and that we have our bibles, because some people don’t. I thank Him for the people in my life who helped me know Him and thank Him for sending Jesus to us, to redeem all of us who believe in Him as our Lord and Savior, the King of Kings; our Messiah.

Psalm 109:30 “But I will give repeated thanks to the Lord, praising him to everyone.”

I thank Him for answering my prayers bigger and better than I asked for; and for the Holy Spirit who perfects my prayers, and for Jesus who pleads my case before God.

Deuteronomy 10:12 “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul.

Ephesians 5:20 “And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

When you are done thanking Him for your home, hot water, heat, electricity, TV, food in your ‘frig., and deer in your back yard; ask yourself, do you love Him? All blessings come from God.

It is written in Zephaniah 3:17 “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

Thank Him for His promise in the bible that says “7But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!” John 15:7 NLT

1 Chronicles 16:8 “Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.”

Deuteronomy 30:6 “The Lord your God will change your heart and the hearts of all your descendants, so that you will love him with all your heart and soul and so you may live!”

When you’re finished thanking God for all your blessings, ask Him to help you love your neighbor (and your enemies)! Tee hee!

Because we can’t do it without His help, for He is love, and there are just some people who are hard to love, and He knows it. But remember, “13For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Phillipians 4:13 NLT
