Welmuth “Buddy” Uecker

Welmuth “Buddy” Uecker was born November 6, 1928 in Blanco County to Lena Bauer Uecker and Otto Uecker. He passed away January 6, 2008 at his home in the Rocky Community. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Dorothy, and three children: Myron and his wife Mary of Johnson City, David of Johnson City and Brenda Stone and her husband, Austin, of Tularosa, New Mexico. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Jake and Trey Turnbull; five step-grandchildren: Jered, Justin and Danielle Stone, Cain and Nicole Wilson; three step-great-grandchildren: Mason, Helen and Carolyn Wilson and one sister, Olivia Weiershausen of Wimberley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Lena Uecker, and one brother, Dort Uecker.

Buddy graduated from Johnson City High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from January 1951 to December 1952 in Indiana and Germany. He married Dorothy Lindig on March 24, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonewall. He was a life-long farmer and rancher and a retired home builder and carpenter. Most people did not know his given name, Welmuth; everyone just knew him as Buddy.

He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church where he remained a life-long member. He served on the church council and in many community organizations including the Emergency Services District Board from its founding until the present time.

Pall bearers are his nephews: W.D., Ronnie, Adlai and Don Weiershausen, Nathan Crenwelge and Vernon Haverlah.

Visitation was from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Crofts Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Stonewall, TX. Interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
