What could be better than receiving an offer to buy your property? Getting more than one offer to buy your property! But before you jump at the one with the highest dollar amount, consider other factors that will determine which offer is right for you. Where’s this money coming from? Without cash or a letter from a lender that is providing a mortgage loan, buyers may not be able to afford the price they’re proposing.

As a contractor that does new homes, remodels, and miscellaneous repairs, I cringe when I hear some contractor quotes and ideas when I have my Real Estate hat on. So again, I would highly recommend for you to get a couple quotes, get references, and see some of their work. In talking about seeing some of their work, beware; this does not always reveal what could lie under some of the repairs.

The 7th grade Blanco football team defeated the Luling Eagles, 24-6, on Thursday, September 11. After an exchange of possessions, the Panther defense held firm on 4th down and took over on the Luling 37 yard line. Gunnar Granberg ran in for the touchdown, with Aaron Daniels scoring the 2 point conversion.

The Panther Junior Varsity clashed with the Luling Eagles on Thursday, September 11, falling 22-26. After trailing 0-20 in the first half the Blanco squad staged a second half comeback. The first Panther touchdown came in the 3rd quarter on a short yardage quarterback sneak by Kelby Cox. Cox completed a pass to Kailen Webster for the 2 point conversion.

The Blanco 8th grade football squad lost, 6-14, to the Luling Eagles on Thursday, September 11. On the Blanco kick off, Lane Lowak made the tackle on the Luling 34 yard line. On the next play the Eagles ball carrier ran 66 yards for the touchdown. The 2 point conversion was stopped by a tackle from Justin Wardlow.

Bret Leigh Nance took first place in the cross country meet in Harper on September 13, with a time of 12:29. She is pictured above with Cross Country coach Stuart Shultz. She also took 2nd place at Comfort on September 6, with a time of 12:35. Breanna Collins placed 13th at Comfort.

This past week, more than 100 members of the Blanco FFA cast their ballots for this year’s officer team. Leading the local chapter will be senior Logan Dodd, as he was elected to serve as president. Other officers will include: Kyle Gray – Vice President, Payton Savarino – Secretary, Dylan Bates – Treasurer, Kari Graham – Reporter, Katherine Biggs – Sentinel, Jamie McClinton – Student Advisor, Brenna Wallace and Jacob Robinson – Student Representatives.

On Patriot Day, the BHS Student Council officers and their sponsor commemorated September 11th by volunteering at the “Welcome Home Ceremony” honoring SPC (Ret.) Justin Lane in Canyon Lake. Seniors Dylan Bates, Payton Savarino, and Jamie McClinton and teacher Amanda Wier helped make final touches to the home built for SPC Lane by the Helping a Hero organization.

The Honor Flight organization of Austin,Texas is seeking veterans of WWII to be their guests on an all expense paid trip to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. Airfare, food, hotel and transportation are paid for by Honor Flight Austin as its way of saying thanks to the men and women who literally saved our world.

My dear friend and I stood on the front step of his sister’s home today after ringing the doorbell. From inside, we could hear her literally scream with delight (rejoicing because she knew who was at the door). She came quickly to the door, opened it, face beaming; then suddenly burst through in a rush to chase her little dogs which had just escaped the open door and were making for the street.

More than 220 Blanco County school children returned to classes this fall better equipped with school supplies, thanks to $6,800 worth of vouchers issued by the Blanco Good Samaritan Center. Parents used the vouchers to purchase school items at Lowe’s Market. Earlier this year, volunteers with the Blanco center, recognizing the drain on limited budgets that a new school year can bring, voted to increase the amount given to clients who have children in county schools. Blanco County Lucky Leaf 4-H Club held its first meeting of the year at the Blanco Bowling Club. Guest speakers were Tim Moss County Extension Agent and Doug Smith member of the Blanco County Youth Council. Members were given an overview of rule changes for the 2015 County Livestock Show in January.

In a movie theater a cowboy name Fred was sprawled across three seats. He was asked to sit in just one seat by the usher, but the cowboy just groaned. The manager was called to speak to the cowboy but he got the same response. Finally an officer was called, and when he asked Fred where he was from, Fred just pointed to the balcony.
