Texas Realtors can obtain designations in specialized areas of real estate. These designations signify the person has gone beyond what is mandatory to earn a real estate license.

The Panther powerlifting team traveled to Southside High School i San Antonio on Wednesday, February 4 to compete against lifters from San Antonio and surrounding schools. The athletes have three chances to complete three lifts including the squat, the bench press and the deadlift. The lifters score is the total of their best lift of each type. On the girls team Charity Windham and Jasmine Munoz both placed 2nd.

The Panthers moved themselves into 2nd placed behind Jarrell in District 25-3A with a 45-41 win over the Lago Vista Lady Vikings on Tuesday, February 3 and a 48-28 victory over the Florence lady Buffaloes on Friday, Feb. 6. Against Lago Vista, Lexee Jenkins paced the team with 15 points, followed closely by jamie McClinton with 11.

The Panther split District 25-3A games with a 44-63 loss to the Lago Vista Vikings on Tuesday, February 3 and a 54-49 win over the Florence Buffaloes on Friday, February 6. In the Lago Vista game, Tyler Schlinke led Blanco with 14 points. Jacob McCaslin scored 11 with Dawson Albin adding 6 points.

Why get water baptized? 1. Jesus commanded it. It is an act of obedience. Matt 28:19-20 says, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you…” Mark 16:16 says, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved…” If this was the only reason to be baptized, it would be sufficient.

Blanco Middle School ecology students traveled to Blanco State Park to assist with an invasive species removal project. Last year, these students learned about this topic in their science classes and they were able to apply their knowledge to a practical situation while taking part in this service learning activity. This last rainy Tuesday we used the kitchen mill to grain some hard red wheat berries into flour. We then used that fresh, warm, whole wheat flour to make bread, following a recipe given me by a dear friend in Canyon Lake. The simple recipe calls for only water, oil, yeast, salt, honey, and of course, the whole wheat flour.

Sen. Troy Fraser (R-Horseshoe Bay) is hoping the Texas Legislature will take aim at revitalizing the state’s aging infrastructure during the session, but not before the biannual budget is complete. “In every session, your primary accomplishment has to be passing a budget,” Fraser said. “We always try to make sure it is a conservative budget — that we live within our means — but still takes care of the state’s needs.

AUSTIN — Last week, the Senate Finance Committee began groundwork for its budget-writing duties with public hearings on four consecutive days. Led by Chairwoman Jane Nelson, R-Grapevine, the 15-member panel heard testimony from the offices of the governor, comptroller and attorney general. Input also was received on state pension funds, courts and payments on state debt.

During a recent vacation, my wife and I paid a visit to Inez Horner, an elderly cousin of mine who lives in the beautiful Heber Valley of Utah. Because we live in Texas, she was especially excited to see us. Almost immediately upon entering her home, she rummaged through a drawer and produced a letter that she had received from a long-lost friend.
