The BHS Cheerleaders held their annual BBQ fundraiser this past Sunday, June 9 to help offset the uniform and camp costs. It was a huge success! The cheerleaders send out a thanks to all the parents and the following sponsors: Bob Riley, HEB, Blanco National Bank, and Smokey Denmark.

The boys closed out their 2013 season on Friday May 31st playing against the other Blanco Junior Boys (Blue Team) with a tie. They had a good season and, for some, it was their last season for little league since they are moving up to High School. Thank you Coaches and our sponsor Pico Ranch. The girls closed out their 2013 season on Wednesday May 29th against Johnson City Major Girls with a win.

Life can be really tough. Sometimes we feel as though our life is shaken to its very foundation. It's then that we find out how deep we have dug. What everything is really built on. Who we really are. We find out how important it is to have a really good foundation. Just as there is a difference in building upon rock as opposed to sand, there is a difference in following our Lord and following the words of men.

Marilyn and Lawrence Mikes went to Seguin on Saturday for their great-grandson, Brody’s, second birthday. There were 15 “little ones” to help him celebrate. The Mikes’ were treated that evening to a program “Tribute Show to Grorge Jones” at the old Palace Theater.

The Dig into Reading Summer Program started June 7th and we had a blast with archeology! All children are welcome to join in the fun with our reading logs and prizes! Our prizes include candy, PEC donations, DQ coupons, and more! Children ages 7 and under (Yes Mom, that means your child can earn prizes when you read to them!) keep track of the number of books they are reading, and get a prize for every 5 books read.

Artists Alliance of the Hill Country (AAHC) was established for all who engage in creative activities, or simply wish to support the arts, to inspire and be inspired, who willingly pool their talents to unite, foster, educate, discover, promote, and advance themselves and their community through the arts. D&H Equipment, LTD continues to innovate and improve products for the modified asphalt industry. The majority of their work involves manufacturing of plants designed to mix asphalt with ground rubber, polymer, and an assortment of other materials/additives. D&H has produced and sold these plants, as well as other equipment, to more than twenty different countries across six continents. Sometimes however, new challenges appear.

The final Youth Play Day Buckle Series was held on Sunday, June 9 at Blanco Cowboy Church. The Lord sent a rain shower to water the arena during the morning service. Following worship service,three baptisms, and a covered dish lunch, the young cowboys and cowgirls competed for their awards and buckles. I still haven’t gotten a clue about an organization that existed in Blanco County called “Snearly Alliance No. 2904.” I do know that this organization existed due to minutes from its meetings, even though these minutes were very vague, sparse, or just a line in a small book, with dates in the late 1800s.
