On October 19 at 4pm, a replica of the Old Blanco County Courthouse will be donated to their Preservation Society. Vernon hand crafted the replica at the age of 96 and it has over 2300 pieces in it. It is being given with love by Vernon’s Family.

Olga Palomino, Activities Director at LBJ Medical Center and Nursing Home, celebrated her birthday on Monday, September 16. Volunteers from Blanco brought smiles to all the elderly with cake and treats. With them was "Mr. RIGHT," Texas Farm Bureau's Ross McCormick, who brought many smiles to all the ladies! We would like to thank the community of Blanco, Blanco EMS, Blanco Police Department, Air Life, surrounding law enforcement agencies and members of the Blanco/Comfort ISD family for their help, thoughts, and prayers after last week’s football game vs Comfort. Air Force Airman Michael J. Garza graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. For Shakespeare fans, the EmilyAnn Theatre & Gardens production of Cymbeline, offers one more opportunity to see the Bard’s work on a local stage before year’s end. “Fall Shakespeare” is becoming a tradition at the EmilyAnn. This season will be the fifth year that a fall semi-professional production has been staged.

It’s that time again – time to begin thinking about a Christmas performance from the Blanco County Community Choir! Rehearsals will begin on September 15 at 4:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Blanco. This volunteer choir is made up of all ages of persons who enjoy singing, learning new music, and working hard to bring an excellent choral performance to our communities. This organization has presented a Christmas program in Johnson City and Blanco every year since 1975.

I had a blast as the Blanco County Fair Queen this year. I would do it over again if I could, but I can't. It is almost Fair and Rodeo time again, and that means another queen's contest and a new queen and court. If you are a girl entering your freshman, sophomore or junior year of Highschool, I would encourage you to enter this year's contest.
