I encourage you to read 2Cor 4:15-18. Verse 17 says, “For our light affliction (tribulation, trouble, persecution), which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” Notice, Paul encourages us to count our afflictions as “light“, but the exceeding eternal glory as “weighty“.

White lies, gray lies, black lies and down right pathological liars! Which one are you? When I became convicted of lying the Holy Spirit showed me that I was telling lies more than I realized. People don’t even bat an eye while giving someone an untruthful compliment, or saying “I’ve missed you!” when they really haven’t. How many people will admit they lie?

Has anyone ever told you that “a lot of people don’t like you”? Someone told me that one day. In my heart I remembered that Jesus said “22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake:but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. 23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another:for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

I encourage you to read Ecc 5:1-7 carefully. Notice how much teaching on the power of our words is mentioned in these few verses. “Don’t give the sacrifice of fools (talk to much), for it is evil… don’t be rash with your mouth… don’t utter things hastily… let thy words be few… a fool’s voice is known by a multitude of words… don’t allow your mouth to cause your flesh to sin… in the multitude is words is emptiness.” God doesn’t waste His words.

Many have heard of the 300 Spartans that stood in the gap to face the vastly superior numbers of the Persian army. They stood in a narrow passage so that the numbers of their enemy gave them little advantage. Let us consider the 3,000 who won a spiritual battle. “So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and there were added that day about three thousand souls” (Acts 2:41).

The single-most humbling experience in all of humanity is parenting. And, for the record, I do not think there is an ounce of hyperbole in that last sentence. In fact, I doubt that it is possible to overstate the overwhelming, overpowering, and at times even devastating experience parenting can be.

Are there some things the LORD has told you to do that you haven’t done yet? Are there some things you need to take care of? I purchased two new bibles this past weekend, and as soon as we got home, both Lawrence and myself were pouring over our new bibles like kids with new toys.

I encourage you to read Mark 11:12-14, 19-24. Verses 23-24 say “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

It’s funny how God works sometimes. Here I’ve been concentrating on planting my fertile ground with God’s Word, looking for ‘good’ Scriptures to speak and meditate on each day, and I picked up a book I had begun reading months ago, by Stormie Omartian, called The Power of a Praying Woman, and I opened it to a chapter about Jesus being the true Vine. John 15:1-5 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

I encourage you to read Mt. 17:14-21. Verse 19-21 says, “Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? Jesus said unto them, “Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Prayer is simply talking to God. Your conversation with Him can be short and simple, as in “Thank You Jesus!” Or you could say The Lord’s Prayer, which is one of my favorites. It could also be a conversation with the Lord during your drive to work, or while you’re falling asleep in bed.

Psalm 1:1-3 says, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

In the Bible there are several important events described as taking place on mountains. In Matthew 17 we read of a place and event that is of great significance and often overlooked. "And six days later Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and brought them up to a high mountain by themselves.

I encourage you to read Matthew chapters 1&2, and Luke 1&2. These four chapters of the Bible are dedicated to the story of the birth of Jesus Christ, also known as the Christmas story. We find in these chapters a tremendous story of faith. The Christmas story is a faith story.

Ken Stegall reflects: “When I was a boy I spent a week at my Granddaddy and Mamaw’s house each summer. They didn't have running water or indoor plumbing. The water wasn't a problem because I thought it was neat to use the hand pump and the gourd dipper at the well, and… best of all, you only had to take a bath once a week!
