Luke 6:38 “38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” The first sentence of the above Scripture is often quoted when the collection is taken up in church. But it’s really a paradox.

I would encourage you to read Jeremiah 8:18-22. Verse 22 says, “Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?”. Jeremiah was a prophet to the Southern Kingdom of Judah during the time the Babylonians under the leadership of Nebuchadnezzar conquered the Jews and carried them away captive to Babylon.

A farm boy was feeling a little mischievous and decided to turn over the outhouse. The father lined his boys up and begin to question them. The guilty son quickly confessed and then said, "George Washington cut down the cherry tree, but he didn't get into trouble because he told the truth, and dad I'm here to tell the truth."

Read 1Timothy 4:12-16 carefully. Vs. 12 says, “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” Example means: a die (to cast); stamp; print, shape, form, a model for imitation. As Believers, we should live our lives as models for imitation.

I’m sure a couple readers may be thinking, “Gee, she’s been publishing God’s Word for how long? And she doesn’t know what salvation is?” Right? Well, I know what I’ve read and heard preached to me, and what most people believe, but, I believe there’s more depth to it, from what I’ve read in God’s Word, and it’s a very serious topic.

In Matthew 15:7-9, Jesus said “7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” Well, don’t get offended, but many of us worry more about what people think rather than what the LORD thinks of us; and may follow trends and/or ordinances set by man instead of God’s commands. And, ...

Harrison Okene of Nigeria was working as a cook on a Tugboat when a heavy swell caused the vessel to capsize and his boat sank to the sea bed in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. "I was dazed and everywhere was dark as I was thrown from one end of the small cubicle to another,"

Hebrews 10:25 says, “Not forsaking (abandoning or deserting) the assembling of ourselves together (the gathering in one place), as the manner (custom or habit) of some is; but exhorting (calling near, encouraging, instructing, admonishing) one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Coming together as Christians and fellowshipping on a regular basis is not only wise and necessary in our Christian walk, but it is also commanded.

Farmers in southern Alabama made their living by growing cotton. Then one year, the dreaded boll weevil devastated the whole region. The next year, the farmers mortgaged their homes and planted cotton again, hoping for a better harvest. Again the insects returned and completely destroyed the crop. The next year, a few farmers who survived decided to plant peanuts.

I encourage you to read 2Kings 13:14-20 carefully. In these verses, we find the prophet Elisha’s final prophecy before he dies, as he encourages King Joash to fight back against Syria and utterly consume them. There are several lessons we can learn from these verses, and hopefully we can apply them to our lives and not make the same mistakes Joash did. First, we see in vs.

Well, if you’ve heard of salvation, you may wonder what it is. Definition: Act of saving someone or something from harm; deliverance from sin through Jesus Christ. Do you realize when we are born, even though we’ve done nothing wrong, we are born into (or under) the curse of Adam, and therefore if we die, our spirit dies a spiritual death?

Proverbs 3: “1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: 2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy path ...

Read 2Cor 12:1-4. Here we learn, that the Apostle Paul (referring to himself in the third person) was caught up to the Paradise - the third Heaven. The third heaven is where God dwells. The first is our sky (atmosphere Gen 1:6-8). The second the celestial heaven (Gen 1:14-18). We learned last week that there are two eternal destinies for mankind.

How many of you know when a person is sincere, while conversing with them? We can see through people by their mannerisms, tone of voice, eye contact, body language and just by using our ears! Because if we listen, we will hear them speak of other people, and in the same breath, state a contradictory message of something they’re trying to convince us of, and well, liars give themselves away all the time and don’t even know it.

I encourage you to read Luke 16:19-31 carefully. The American Church is in crisis. In 2008, a Pew Forum poll found that only 17% of Americans believed you must be born again to enter Heaven. Yet, around 75% of Americans claim Christianity as their religion. Other polls show that a much bigger percentage of Americans believe in Heaven than in Hell.
