All over the Old Testament, there are wars and rumors of wars! Rumors? No, details of wars that took place, describing how God helped His people victoriously slay the enemy. He devoured the enemies of his people, and caused his people to slay the enemy over and over again. Even women were major reasons that kings were killed; even one who portrayed herself as a whore, beheaded a ruler of a nation.
We have to fight sometimes, to ensure our safety and that of our children and grandchildren.

Prov 4:20-23 says, “My son, attend (perk up your ears) to my words; incline (stretch forward) thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life (spiritual) unto those that find them, and health (physical) to all their flesh.

Someone has said, "Temper is what gets most of us into trouble. Pride is what keeps us there."
It was a Sabbath day and Jesus had been invited to the house of a ruler among the Pharisees. Jesus healed a man on that occasion and denounced those present for their hypocrisy, saying, "Which one of you shall have a son or an ox fall into a well, and will not immediately pull him out on a Sabbath day?"

Although I wrote this article last year, I thought it would be good to revisit it this Christmas. The word incarnate simply means to clothe with flesh. It signifies when the second person of the God Head, Jesus The Son, put on flesh and dwelt among us (Mt 1:23, Jn 1:14).

I invite you to review the fol- lowing Scriptures relating to the word “gift.” See how you feel after you’ve reviewed all of them. May God bless you during this season of remembrance of Christ, and may He bless your family as well.
Exodus 23:8 “And thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous.”
Numbers 18:11 “And this is thine; the heave offering of their gift, with all the wave offerings of the children of Israel: I have given ...

According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, adults between the ages of 24 and 54 spend an average of 13.6 hours each day working, caring for others, tending to household items, and participating in sports-related activities. With everyday life leaving so little time for rest, sleeping in on Sunday morning might feel more like a necessity than a luxury for many people.
Beginning on January 5 at 5 p.m., Community Bible Church, Bulverde will begin offering a Saturday night service ...

A neighborhood had been victimized by burglars, and a woman of a particular household was worried that her house might be next. Ten years had passed since any break-ins, yet she was always worried about it. Then one day a robber broke into the house. Her husband went downstairs to check it out.

Several years ago a magazine reported that an organization offered $5000 to anyone who could capture a wolf alive and bring it to them. Reading about this opportunity, Sam and Jed decided to go on a wolf hunt! The first night, they put up their tent and went to sleep.

Well, we say we want to live according to God’s Word, and Christ’s teachings, but do we really do it?
Jesus said we would be hated by the world for simply believing in Him. That’s one reason we may not feel loved or accepted by the world, but what about our friends?
How many times have we ‘judged’ a person simply because of what someone said about them?

Last week we read in Hebrews 8:5 there were many things in the Old Testament that were to be types and shadows, or figures and representations, of things in the New Covenant. We specifically started talking about types and shadows of the Incarnation, when the Word became flesh and dwelt among us in Emmanuel, God with us (Jesus).

A teacher taught her fifth grade class that Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb. One student said that she knew why - Jesus only needed it for three days!
Christ can be your refuge. In Him we are sheltered from the coming wrath of God. “For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ” (I Thessalonians 5:9; Romans 5:9).
