Thursday evening, October 16, the future of Blanco football was revealed with the combined effort of the 7th and 8th grade teams defeating the Nixon-Smiley Colts, 35-20. The 8th grade team took the field for the opening kickoff with the Colts kicking to the Panthers. Justin Wardlow received the kick and didn’t stop running for 85 yards and a Panther touchdown! Cade Felps rushed for the 2 point conversion giving Blanco the 8-0 lead with 7:46 remaining in the 1st quarter.

The Blanco Lady Panthers kept the heat on in their District 25-3A match-up with the Ingram Lady Warriors on Friday, October 17 winning in 3 sets, 25-14, 25-11, and 25-23. Leading the team in kills was Reagan Rogers with 25, Lexee Jenkins with 11, Abbie Culton and Jamie McClinton each with 3, and Hannah Hulburt with 2.

The Panthers Junior Varsity football team picked up another district win on the road on Thursday, October 16, outscoring the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs, 16-6. Garrett Seales kicked off for the Panthers to start the game. The Blanco defense was solid, forcing the Mustangs to punt on a 4th down. Kailen Webster returned the punt 5 yards.

For the second straight week, the Blanco Panthers steam rolled a district opponent to improve their district record to 2 and 0. This time, the Panthers defeated the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs for an easy 56-0 homecoming victory. In front of a packed house, the Panthers scored in every quarter and never once allowed the Mustangs to threaten scoring. Blanco scored on its first offensive play of the game on a 5 yard run from Adrien Dominguez.

The 7th grade football team earned a 14-6 win in their first district game facing the Stockdale Brahmas on Thursday, October 9. The first half was scoreless with both teams struggling to find the endzone. The Panthers defense held the Brahmas at bay with Bowie Crofts leading the charge making multiple open-field, solo tackles and assisting on many others.

The Lady Panthers showed no fatigue playing two DIstrict 25-3A games on the road last week sweeping the Florence Lady Buffaloes and the Jarrell Lady Cougars. On Tuesday, October 7 the Panthers beat the Buffs 25-12, 25-11, and 25-13 and then on Friday, October 10, the Panthers defeated the Cougars in 3 sets, 25-15, 25-14, and 25-15. Pacing the team against Florence, Reagan Rogers bashed 32 kills, 1 service ace, and 1 block.

The Panther Junior Varsity rolled over the Stockdale Brahmas 36-14 on Thursday, October 9 at the Panthers Stadium. After Garrett Seales’ kickoff, Sebastian Thomas pounced on a Stockdale fumble to set up the Panther offense on the Stockdale 25 yard line. Kailen Webster, Stephen Flores, Kameron Martinez, and Toby Triesch each made carries to move the Panthers to the 2 yard line.

The 8th grade Panthers continued to roll as they won their opening district game, 30-6, against the Stockdale Brahmas on Thursday, October 9. The Panthers scored on every possession of the game, racking up some serious yardage behind QB Eddie Calzoncit. Calzoncit was 5 of 6 passing for 77 yards and 2 touchdowns.

After a week off, the Panthers looked rested and ready to begin district play as they traveled to Stockdale to take on the Brahmans. After just one quarter of play, it was evident that Blanco had the game under control as they cruised to an easy 49 – 0 victory, improving to 6 and 0 on the year and more importantly 1 and 0 in district. Blanco opened the first quarter scoring on a 61 yard 7 play drive ending with a 1 yard TD run from Adrian Dominguez.

The 7th grade Panthers Won another game Thursday, October 2, squeaking out a close one 14-12 against the Comfort Bobcats. The Panther defense showed their strength with good team tackling throughout the game. The defense was led by Marshall Symons with more than 10 tackles and a fumble recovery. Brayden Hodge showed his strength on numerous tackles, shutting down the inside running game.

By Matt Horton The 8th grade Panthers showed their Defensive strength Thursday, October 2, with a 16-0 shutout of the Comfort Bobcats. The Panther defense held Comfort to just 41 yards of total offense. The defense attacked all night with CJ Diamond, Kyle Martinez, Chance Horton, and Jesus Arteaga applying upfront pressure, with Horton getting to the QB causing a fumble , dropping the running backs for loss and ending the night with 9 tackles.

The Lady Panthers tallied two more District 25-AAA wins last week defeating the Lago Vista Lady Vikings and the Georgetown Gateway Prep Lady Gators. On Tuesday, September 30, Blanco traveled to Lago Vista and brought home a 3-0 win with set scores of 25-21,25-15, and 25-16. Reagan Rogers slammed 19 kills to lead the Panthers.

By Jason Marek In rain soaked conditions that persisted throughout the entire game this past Friday, the Blanco Panthers held on for an 8-6 victory over the Randolph Ro-Hawks to improve to 5 and 0 on the season going into their Bi-week. The Panthers were held to season lows in yardage and first downs however the defense held a potent Ro-Hawk ground game in check while forcing key turnovers when needed. Randolph took an early lead on a 70 yard run with 8:53 left in the 1st quarter.

For the second consecutive week, Blanco faced a strong opponent as the Panthers took their undefeated record to San Antonio to take on the San Antonio Christian Lions. History has shown most of the time this game would not be decided until the final play, and this year proved that to be true. The 7th grade Blanco football team defeated the Luling Eagles, 24-6, on Thursday, September 11. After an exchange of possessions, the Panther defense held firm on 4th down and took over on the Luling 37 yard line. Gunnar Granberg ran in for the touchdown, with Aaron Daniels scoring the 2 point conversion.
