The Lady Panthers basketball team trailed by only 6 points at the end of the 3rd quarter, but the 7th ranked Jarrell lady Cougars pulled ahead in the 4th for a 69-58 win. The Panthers were paced by Jamie McClinton and Charlsey Smith who each scored 18 points. Reagan Rogers added 11, with Lexee Jenkins scoring 6.

In what proved to be one of the most exciting games of the season, Blanco’s ground and pound running game bested the aerial attack of the Odem Owls to propel the Panthers into the next round of the state playoffs where they will face the Newton Eagles for the right to play in the 3A Division II State Championship game on Dec.

The Blanco Panther boys basketball team fought a tough battle for a 70-68 win over the San Antonio Lutheran Mustangs on Friday, December 19. Jacob McCaslin led the Panthers scoring 21 points. Ty Royce sank 14 points with cross Caldwell adding 11. Dylan Tesch and Noah wheeler each scored 5. Hugo Rodriguez and Justin Williams each made 4 points.

With hopes of playing in Thursday’s 3A Division II State Championship Game on the line this past Friday in Waller, the Panthers played a hard fought game that proved to be evenly matched for the first half of play. However, some missed opportunities by Blanco and the team speed of Newton allowed the Eagles to pull away in the second half and send the Panthers home as their season came to an end with a 48-21 loss. Newton opened the game with an 8 play 65 yard drive ending with a 1 yard run.

The Lady Panthers took on the Cole Cougars on tuesday, Dec. 9 losing 45-59. The Panthers were led by Lexee Jenkins scoring 19 points, Charlsey Smith made 10 points, with Payton Savarino addin 7. Reagan Rogers sank 6 points and Jamie McClinton scored 3. The junior varsity also fell to the Cougars, 25-39.

In the only game this past weekend that featured two teams ranked in the top 10 of the state, the #5 Blanco Panthers won a hard fought battle over the #9 East Bernard Brahmas. After scoring on a 78-yard pass play on their first play of the game, the Taft Greyhounds looked poised to give the Panthers a battle. However, it didn’t take long for Blanco to ground out a big lead and coast to a 56 to 14 Area Championship and improve to 12 and 0 for the season. Although the Greyhounds took an early 7-0 lead, the Panthers answered with three first quarter touchdowns of their own, on runs of 17 yards and 1 yard by Adrien Dominguez, and a 52-yard run from Logan Dodd.

On November 14, Kyle Gray signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at the University of West Virginia in Morgantown, surrounded by family and friends in the Blanco High School Library. Kyle has played baseball throughout the U.S. against some of the top players in the nation. He has been named to the perfect game All Tournament team three times.

From the opening kick-off to the last second of the game, the Blanco Panthers dominated the Boling Bulldogs in Bastrop this past Thursday to claim a Bi-District Championship and improve to 11 and 0 for the season. The 7th Grade Blanco football team hosted Natalia for their final game of the season on Thursday, November 6. The 7th grade Panthers did not disappoint, as the defense dominated and the offense rolled, defeating the Mustangs 36-0. The Panthers started strong scoring in only 3 plays with a 34 yard touchdown run by Clayton Brown, followed by the 2 point conversion run by Gunnar Granberg.

The 8th Grade Panther football team followed their undefeated 7th grade year with only one loss and an undefeated district championship with a 39-12 victory over Natalia on Thursday, November 6. After the Blanco kick off, the Panther defense forced the Mustangs to punt. Tyler La Rue returned the punt for 12 yards.

The Blanco Lady Panther Volleyball team captured the Region IV Runner-up trophy on Saturday, November 15 after having defeated Brooks Academy 3-0, Enda 3-0, Goliad 3-1, and Taft 3-1. The Panthers fell to the Poth Pirettes 3-0 in the Regional Finals. On Tuesday, November 11, Blanco defeated Goliad at Seguin High School 25-18, 22-25, 25-12, and 25-20 to take the regional quarter final match and earn a berth at the regional tournament in San Antonio at Blossom Athletic Center.

The Blanco Junior Varsity Football team ended their season with a 36-6 victory over the Natalia Mustangs. With the win over Natalia, the Panthers finish 7-3 for the season and 4-0, undefeated, in district play. After the Natalia kickoff, the Panthers took only 2 plays to score a touchdown on a 75 yard run by Kameron Martinez.
