Following scrimmages in Blanco and Boerne on August 8 and 9, the Panther Volleyball Team drove the short distance to Bulverde to face Bracken Christian on Tuesday, August 12 for their first game of the season. The Varsity swept Bracken winning in three set, 25-14, 25-17, and 25-12. Senior Reagan Rogers led the team with 18 kills and 4 blocks.

The Panthers come into the fall with a new classification (Blanco is 3A now), a new district, and a new way to listen to Blanco Panther football games. KDRP, a radio station out of Bee Cave, Texas, approached Dr. Ford, the school board, and Athletic Director Danny Rogers this summer about the possibility of broadcasting the games on a few of their satellite stations.

Season ticket sales for the 2014 Varsity Football season will go on sale on Monday, August 18th for renewals only until Friday, August 22, 2014. Initial ticket sales will begin on Monday, August 25th until Friday, August 29th. The cost will be $20 for adults and $12 for students (four home games).

Blanco’s Varsity Cheer Squad attended the UCA Varsity Cheer Camp at the UT Austin Campus July 17 through 20. The squad received First place in the Extreme Routine Dance and 2nd Place in Cheer. Charlsey Smith was chosen for All-American honors including an invitation to London.

The Blanco Middle School cheer squad attended their cheerleading camp at the BMS gym on Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 18. Universal Cheerleading association, UCA, instructor, Tiffany Thiele, taught the cheerleaders new chants, cheers, and dances for the 2014 football season. The team also practiced stunts and jumps. On Thursday, the girls performed new cheers and dances for their families and friends. The squad received a trophy for their exemplary performance.

The Blanco High School Junior Varsity cheerleaders attended NCA Cheer camp last week in Blanco. During the three days of camp, the girls earned the following awards: Herkie Team Award, Stunt Safe Award and Technical Excellence Award. They were also invited to attend the Christmas Extravaganza in Florida this year. Each girl was nominated for the All-American award.

The Blanco Boys Intermediate Little League Baseball Team recently completed a very successful season at the District 26 Tournament in Fredericksburg. Blanco’s team advanced to the championship game before being defeated by Fredericksburg to finish the season as the District 26 Runner-ups. The Blanco LL Coach Pitch All-Stars completed their three weekend tournament road trip with 2nd place & 3rd place finishes. The Johnson City Tournament (June 13-14) started with a 6-1 victory over Comfort, Saturday was a grid losing 15-5 to Burnet followed by wins over Bertram 16-0, Bulverde 14-7, Wimberley 12-7.

Reagan Rogers, Outside Hitter from Blanco High School and Austin Performance Volleyball, has made a verbal commitment to play volleyball for Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Reagan made her decision and accepted the scholarship offer on April 18th, and is excited about joining the Demon volleyball team in the Fall of 2015. The Blanco Intermediate Little League team traveled to Mason this past weekend to take part in the Mason Intermediate 50-70 Tournament. After a long day of baseball, Blanco came out on top, taking home the championship. In winning first place, Blanco began the day with a 14 – 5 victory over Llano.

Track records were tied, broken, and broken again this year at Blanco High School. Lady Panther track member Meaghen Seales, set the new BHS record in the 800 meter run capturing 3rd place at the State meet with a time of 2:17.97. Bret Leigh Nance had previously broken the record this year with a time of 2:19, and then placed 4th at State running 2:18.12.5.
